Severn Mendip is an informal Group, and represents all shades of narrow gauge modelling, in the main 16 mm scale running mostly on 32 mm gauge track. The current membership covers a wide geographical area, including - Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and South Wales. We are affiliated to the Association of 16 mm Narrow Gauge Modellers, and it is a condition of group membership that all are also members of the Association.

The Group has its own portable layout "Mendip Vale" (shown above) which will again this year will be seen in operation at several events around the country. Group members will be on hand at all these events to answer questions. Details of this years provisional bookings may be found on the 'Mendip Vale' Web page.

There are occasional "club nights" either working sessions, or running sessions on "Mendip Vale". The main focal point of the group however, is the many Members Open Days which take place especially during the summer months. In between imbibing gallons of tea, much information and expertise is exchanged, as well as the chance to show off that new model or project in development. Non-members or prospective members are welcome to these by invitation. You can use the "contact us" button on the website. Some  members garden railways may be seen in 'Members photo gallery'

There is also an Annual Meeting of members in January, from which point the annual subscription becomes due. The Group subscription will be set at that meeting for the coming year, and notified to all members immediately following the meeting together with a copy of the minutes.New members do not have to pay the subscription in the first year of joining, unless they wish to. A list of current members is published annually, usually in September.

Members receive a emailed updates and news which includes articles and photos by members, as well as the all important diary, listing Members Open Days and the national events.

The Group does own a few items, which are available for loan, these include a battery diesel loco and long spirit levels. A boiler testing facility is also available.
